Party Canvass
Pulaski County Republican Committee
of the Republican Party of Virginia
As Chairman of the Pulaski County Republican Committee, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Andy McCready, do hereby issue this call for a Party Canvass to be held at New River Valley Fairgrounds, 5581 Fairgrounds Circle, Dublin, VA 24084 (or its alternate site), from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM local time on May 12, 2022 for the following purposes:
- To elect a unit chairman;
- To elect unit committee members.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of Pulaski County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
In addition to the foregoing, to be in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, unless otherwise stipulated by the appropriate Official Committee, a person otherwise qualified hereunder shall not have participated in Virginia in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party within the last five years.
A single exception to this shall be approved for a voter that renounces affiliation with any other party in writing, and who expresses in writing that he/she is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and intends, at the time of this writing, to support the nominees of the Republican Party in the future. Any voter that utilizes the forgoing exception, and thereafter participates in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party, shall not have the benefit of the exception thereafter.
Voters may be required to produce personal identification such as a valid photo ID that is acceptable for voting purposes in order to participate.
Filing Requirements
Candidates for election for Unit Chair shall file official filing form by mail or in person, to Roger Dean PO Box 7 Pulaski, VA 24301, which must be received not later than Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 5PM and accompanied by any fees required. Postmarks shall not govern.
Any Person that has already submitted their membership application and paid their membership dues for unit committee member for 2022 as of 2/28/2022 will be considered to have pre-filed for unit committee member for the party canvass. Any person who has not already submitted their membership application and paid their membership dues for unit committee member in 2022 shall pre-file for the party canvass by completing and submitting a membership application along with remitting the $25.00 annual dues no later than 5PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

Candidacy filing fees are as follows:
- Unit Chairman – $250.00 filing fee nonrefundable
- Unit Committee Member – 25.00 dues for one year

Uncontested Offices/Cancellation of Party Canvass
If no more than one candidate properly files for election to any office to be voted upon at the mass party canvass, that candidate will be declared elected. If fewer than the maximum number of unit committee members that the Pulaski County Republican Committee has established pre-file, all properly pre-filed candidates shall be declared elected to the applicable unit committee membership position.
Registration Fees for Party Canvass
There will be a MANDATORY registration fee of $10.00 to participate in the Pulaski County Republican Committee Party Canvass. Cash or checks only will be accepted. Please make checks payable to the Pulaski County Republican Committee.
